Mitchell Rodrigues Correa da Silva

I am the Head Coach of D15 Academy. My role is to teach all classes, create and programme the entire teaching system, prepare and accompany all athletes in Jiu-Jitsu competitions.

I started jiu-jitsu in 2006 in São Paulo/Brazil, influenced by my family, who already practiced this sport. In 2015 as a brown belt, I started teaching some classes and in 2017 I graduated as a black belt. In 2019 I moved to Dublin to study English. In 2021 I was hired by JSBJJ to be a jiu-jitsu teacher for the intermediate and advanced classes. At the end of 2022 I received a proposal to teach some classes at D15 Academy, and in early 2023 I became the Head Coach.

  • How many years of experience do you have.:

I have 17 years of experience with Jiu-Jitsu and 8 years as a teacher.

My biggest contribution I offer to the D15 Academy is my long experience as a teacher in Brazil, which is the biggest hub of the sport, also during my experience as a teacher here in Europe I have worked in one of the biggest teams in Ireland. I also have great experience as an athlete, as I was a competitor for many years in Brazil, so I can pass on this experience and create new high-level athletes at D15 Academy.

My main titles:

- 5 times Paulista Champion

- 2 times better ranking in São Paulo-Brazil

- Champion of the Olympics of Nations

- Third Pre-Pan American jiu-jitsu

- Champion Grandslam jiu-jitsu São Paulo (category)

- Second place Grandslam Jiu-jitsu São Paulo (absolute)

- 3 times champion of the Jiu-Jitsu pro sports circuit

- Champion Grappling industries Dublin Nogi

- Third champion of the Dublin open

- Champion International Irish gi and nogi

Jiu-Jitsu itself is my biggest inspiration to always do my best, because jiu-jitsu was responsible for helping me conquer everything in my life and the least, I can do is use jiu-jitsu to help and transform other people's lives. I believe that jiu-jitsu is not just a sport but something magical that can help many people, so D15 Academy is the best place to spread quality jiu-jitsu and bring as many people into this community as possible.

Even outside the gym I'm always studying and doing things related to jiu-jitsu. On my free days I try to live as many new experiences as possible, like discovering new places, different foods and cultures.
